What is a mudra in yoga?

A mudra is a fingers posture used in yoga to enlighten mind & body; it can be understand as we switch on the lights-fan-A.C. in the room and we get relief. The practice of these gestures channel the flow of prana life force. There are many mudras. They are categorized as hand hasta mudras, body (kaya) and consciousness (citta) mudras. We commonly use hand mudras.
